Brief history of The Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT)

The Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT), a Polytechnic Institute was established in 1989. It offers theoretical and practical training in a number of technologies leading to the Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE). The Diploma is recognized by the Sindh Board of Technical Education.

AIT’s educational spirit is rooted in the educational ideals embodied by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and the Aligarh Movement. The pre-partition creation of Aligarh Muslim University not only offered Muslim students in the subcontinent a valuable avenue for higher education but also created a sense of community and belonging underpinned by Sir Syed’s ideals of unity, tolerance and academic excellence.
