Student Innovations Target Pakistan’s Industrial and Environmental Challenges at AIT Exhibition 2026
KARACHI: More than 300 student-led research and technology projects addressing industrial, environmental, energy and urban infrastructure challenges were showcased at the Aligarh Institute of Technology’s annual Project Exhibition 2026, highlighting the growing role of academia in developing practical solutions for Pakistan’s industry.

China-Pakistan Engr Mansoor-ul-Hassan Siddiqui, who visited project displays and stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration between academia and industry to transform research into commercial and industrial applications.
Students from Civil, Architecture, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Computer and Information Technology (CIT), Cyber Security, Diploma of Information Technology (DIT) and Basic Sciences departments presented their projects.
Among the notable innovations were an industrial wastewater recycling system, an AI-powered two-way sign language communication platform, a smart energy meter, smart irrigation technologies, eco-friendly manhole covers, waste-to-energy and footstep power generation systems, cold asphalt technology, renewable energy solutions and intelligent security systems.
The event was attended by Governing Body Chairman Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim, Principal Shahid Jamil, Cadet College Malir Principal and Commandant Khuzaema Gauhar Siddiqui, representatives from industry, academics, faculty members, students and parents.
Awards and certificates were presented to outstanding projects during the closing ceremony, where speakers emphasised that commercialising student innovations could contribute significantly to Pakistan’s industrial competitiveness, technological advancement and sustainable economic growth.
